How It Works
How does the SMS feature work?
Family members text grocery items to Listy, and Listy knows which list to add them to based on who's texting. Items appear on your list instantly. We use Twilio, a trusted SMS provider, to handle the messaging reliably.
Do my family members need to download an app?
Nope! That's the whole point. They just text like normal. You're the only one who needs the Listy app (or website). Everyone else just texts.
What if someone texts who isn't approved?
Only phone numbers you've approved can add items to your list. Texts from unknown numbers are ignored - no spam, no random items appearing.
How do I add items via text?
Send one item per text message. Just text "milk" and it gets added to your list instantly.

How do I add quantities?
Put the quantity before the item with an "x". For example: "2x milk" or "3x eggs". You can also add notes in parentheses: "2x milk (organic)".
Can I add notes to items?
Yes! Put notes in parentheses: "eggs (organic)" or "bread (the sourdough from Trader Joe's)". Notes appear with the item on your list.
How do I add Listy to my phone's home screen?
On iPhone: Open Listy in Safari, tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen." On Android: Open in Chrome, tap the menu (three dots), then "Add to Home screen."

Is my personal information protected?
Your password is encrypted, and we won't share your email, password, or phone numbers with third parties.
How do you use my data?
We use your data to run Listy and may use it to improve our products and services. Don't input anything you wouldn't want us to have. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How much does Listy cost?
$8 per month. One simple price, no hidden fees, no premium tiers.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. Cancel with one click from your account settings. No cancellation fees, no questions asked.
What payment methods do you accept?

Who Is Listy For?
Is Listy good for couples?
Perfect for couples! No more "I texted you to get milk" arguments. Both partners can text items, one person handles the shopping with a complete list.
What about roommates?
Great for roommates too. Everyone texts their requests, whoever does the shopping sees everything in one place. Works especially well for shared household items.
Can older family members use it?
That's actually one of our favorite use cases! If grandma knows how to text (and she probably does), she can add items to the list. No app learning curve.
